Happy 70th birthday to veteran actor, Pete Edochie (Photos)

Veteran actor, Pete Edochie is a year older today, he was born on 7 March 1947 in Enugu, Nigeria.


Edochie is considered one of Africa’s most talented actors, by both Movie Awards and Movie Magic’s Africa Magic Cable network.

Although a seasoned administrator and broadcaster, he came into prominence in the 1980s when he played the lead role of Okonkwo in an NTA adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all-time best selling novel, Things Fall Apart. Edochie descends from the Igbo people in Nigeria and is a Catholic.

Nigerian footballer, Kelechi Nwakali honored by Prince of Maastricht

Kelechi Nwakali, who led the Nigerian U17 team to win a record fifth Fifa U17 World Cup title in Chile 2015, met with the Prince of Maastricht in Netherlands.


Kelechi met the royalty, after his club's 3-0 win over FC Oss on Monday. He played a crucial
role in Ron Elsen side's win, before being cautioned in the 83rd minute.

Kelechi who joined the Dutch club, De Geusselt, on loan in mid-september from Arsenal FC, has been featured 16 times in matches played by the club. Nigeria's most decorated player, Kanu Nwankwo, was also present at the occasion.

IT WAS commendation galore as a multi-million-naira hospital built and equipped by a renowned Imo State-born philanthropist was commissioned and handed over to Umuchima community in Ideato Local Government Area of Imo State on January 4, 2017.

Leading in the praises was the Federal Government and the Governor of Imo State, OwelleRochasOkorocha, who expressed gratitude to Mr. Festus Mbisiogu, Chief Executive Officer of Blue Diamonds Logistics, China, for donating the hospital.

Special guest of honour and Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Junnai Al-Hassan, praised Mbisiogu for his kind gesture in building and donating the hospital.

She said the humanitarian effort was an indication of his love for his community, especially women and children who would be the major beneficiaries of the project.

She said the project was in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision and programme on health care, adding that the Federal Government was willing to partner with individuals and corporate entities exploiting the policies on health care and other sectors for the betterment of their communities.

The minister enjoined wealthy Nigerians to emulate Mbisiogu and reach out to their various communities in areas that would be beneficial to the generality of the people.

Speaking also, Governor RochasOkorocha, who was represented by the Commissioner for Health, Women Affairs and Social Development, NgoziNjoku, praised Mbisiogu for his foresight in building and donating the hospital without any financial help from the state or Federal Government.

Okorocha noted that health was key to the existence and well being of the society, said the modern health centre would ease the problem of the primary health care in the community as well as reduce maternal mortality rate.

In his speech, Mbisiogu recalled the genesis of the philanthropy. He said while growing up, his mother related to him how she lost her second son, who was sick because there was no available health centre in their community.

“Before she could take her son to Urualla where there was an existing health centre, the child had died,” he said.
Mbisiogu said since then he had nursed the dream to build a befitting hospital for his community so as to forestall such occurrences.

He thanked God, the community and particularly the Umuchima Women Organisation for their support in seeing to the actualisation of his dreams.
President-General of UWO, Dr. (Mrs.) B.N. Ubbaonu, described the health centre as a timely, worthy and miraculous gift from God through Mbisiogu.

She said: “For over 10 years, Mbisiogu has been sharing over 200 bags of rice to indigent people every Sunday before Christmas. He also paid school fees for many in the community.”

She described the Blue Diamond boss as a worthy son of Ideato that other people should emulate and celebrate.
The ceremony drew many dignitaries, who praised the project, which was single-handedly executed by Mbisiogu.

Besides the hospital, Mbisiogu has also built and donated over 42 pipe-borne water boreholes to various communities in Ideato. Through this gesture, the people in the entire communities in Ideato South LGA have stopped trekking five kilometres to fetch water from the Orasi River, which is the source of water for the communities.
Mbisiogu has also promised to extend the water borehole to Ideato North LGA

The great philanthropist of the century, a great young enterprenuer whom disabled persons described to be as generous as generosity itself, as hospitable as hospitality itself, Dr Kelly Nwogu MD/C.E.O of livelihood homes ltd & livelihood farms (owners of Blue sea estate int) celebrated his new year with the diabled persons feeding &empowering over forty thousand disabled persons at the national stadium Lagos.On the 6th of January 2017.




He completed the empowerment program by giving out lots of wheel chairs, sewing machines ,clippers, electronic hair dryers e.t.c. at this occasion due to the overwhelming joy in the hearts of the dlsabled persons. The crippled danced, the blind danced, the deaf rejoiced.

Dr. Kelly Nwogu discussed on agriculture & how disabled persons could be involved. He personally choose himself to invest on this disabled person.




Dr Kelly nwogu further said how he feels the pains of what it takes to be raised by a disabled parent, as he recounted the painful memory of how he was raised as an only child of a crippled mother on a wheel chair.

Dr Kelly nwogu has started it you too should be part of it.lets take this people out of the streets &save our generation.dr Kelly nwogu said in this exact words
'If we do not help them, their children would suffer and crime rate would increase as poverty leads to crime”.

Business mogul and oil magnate, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah has expressed sadness over the fire accident that ravaged the Timber Market at Nnewi, Anambra State.

Dr. Ubah visited the market to commiserate and lend shoulders to the affected traders.

Commiserating with traders, Ubah pledged to contribute immensely to the reconstruction of the damaged shops and properties.

The traders expressed their happiness on Ubah's timely visit and succour during the fire incidence. One of the traders who spoke anonymously, asserted that the significant role by Ubah in the wake of the incidence remains indelible in the minds of the traders as the disaster would have been worse than it were already safe for his timely intervention.


Recall that Ubah had on the night of the inferno played a significant role in curtailing the spread of the fire as he moved the fire fighting vehicles and water tankers from his expansive Games village to the scene of the disaster.

The Chairman of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited and Publisher of The AUTHORITY Newspa­pers, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, has been named the Grand Pa­tron of Nigerians in China.

Nigerians in the Asian country, who gave the award to the business mogul, also recog­nised him as “Youth Ambassa­dor of all Nigerians in China”.

While decorating Ubah with the double awards at the 160,000 capacity FC Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium in Nnewi, An­ambra State, the leader of Nige­rians in China.

 Mr. Elochukwu Chikwelu, said that Ubah has been a good brother and friend to Nigerians in China, especial­ly the people of Anambra State.

The event was attended by former Senate President, Ken Nnamani; former governor of Anambra State and Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen­ator Chris Ngige, Senator Uche Ekwunife and prominent Nige­rian politicians.

Prominent Nollywood ac­tors also witnessed the pres­entation at the Games Village during the recent Youth Music Festival and Talent Hunt held in Nnewi, Anambra State.

According to Chikwelu, “We are here to honour Dr. Pat­rick Ifeanyi Ubah (Ebubechuk­wu-Uzo Nnewi) because of his brotherly disposition to Nige­rians in China. “He is the only Nigerian that whenever he vis­its China, will look for his Nige­rian and Igbo brothers.

“He secures bail for our people held in prisons in China. We flew down from China just to tell him in the presence of Nigerians, and to let him know that we appreciate what he has been doing for our people, es­pecially Anambra indigenes in China. “Apart from decorat­ing him as our Grand Patron, we also recognise Ubah as the Youth Ambassador of all Nige­rians in China,” he said.

In his response, Ubah ex­pressed appreciation to the group and promised to contin­ue to add value to humanity.

 Both medical practitioners based in the US, they got engaged in May this year. They have been in a relationship since 2012.


 They had a long distance relationship for about three years until they met for the first time in December last year.


Their wedding will be held at Agulu, Anambra state.

On Tuesday, 21 December, 2016, Anita Okoye held a launch event at Oasis Medspa for her new venture #TheCashewAppleProject.

 The wife of PSquare's Paul Okoye has been working behind the scenes with her American team for a few months preparing for the launch of the project which is "A mission to uncover Africa's Hidden Jewels".



At the event Anita and her team explained the project which will be a series of small projects to encourage Africa and the rest of the world to see the value in African art, music, agriculture, and more. Anita gave a heartfelt speech saying

"#TheCashewAppleProject is a mission to uncover these hidden jewels and show the world how rich we really are, but first we must see our own value.

We must see the value in our agriculture, in our fashion, our music. We must see value in the rich and the poor, the young and the old. We must see the value within ourselves.

So again I thank you for joining me in this journey, our collective efforts will surely show the world that Africa is more than our flaws, and inspire them to search for our hidden jewels.”




Anita also presented her book The ABCs of Africa which will be the first of many things to come from the project. The book highlights some of the hidden jewels within Africa’s agriculture as it list 26 foods that grow abundantly on the continent.

The event was intimate but effective and of course Anita’s husband Paul, and brother in laws Peter and Jude were there to support with their wives. Guest also enjoyed a live performance by Rudeboy artist Muno.

Neya Orji Uzor Kalu's traditional wedding to Lawrence Iyere which was scheduled to take place tomorrow Dec. 28th at her father's home town in Igbere, Bende LGA of Abia state, has been postponed. According to a source, the cancellation doesn't mean the couple have broken up, for personal reasons, the wedding was postponed till February 2017.
